Kenan Writers' Encounters, 2007 Season

The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts, a nonprofit affiliate of the North Carolina School of the Arts, approached Fifth Letter about working on materials for their annual speaker series. The theme for the 2006-2007 season was “Legacies,” and the two artists chosen were the political activist and playwright Eve Ensler and the author and jazz critic Stanley Crouch.

KWE Poster

Poster-Mailer

We decided that the vernacular of a boxing poster made sense given the fact that both speakers have a history of being outspoken and combative through both their words and subject matter. Working with a limited budget, we were able to create poster-mailers, postcards, and playbill inserts to help spread the word throughout Winston-Salem’s arts community.
