In 2005 Fifth Letter was founded to provide excellent design services and marketing expertise for nonprofit organizations because our founder believes in the power of design to make the world a better place. We still hold true to that philosophy today although we have expanded our client base to include a variety of industries including architecture, education, publishing, biotechnology, and entrepreneurs, to name a few. But we still have a soft spot for nonprofits. We can’t help but get personally invested in their mission and go the extra mile to help them flourish.
As the holiday season kicks off this week with Thanksgiving, we are moved to reflect on our clients and how grateful we are to work with some absolutely amazing people. Perhaps in 2018 we’ll dedicate some blog space to profile the wonderful folks we have the privilege to collaborate with but this week we are especially excited to work with the awesome team at Providence Restaurant. When one thinks of Thanksgiving, one thinks of food (obviously) and there are few meals that can hold a candle to the farm-to-fork cuisine at Providence. But what makes this restaurant extra special is their mission.
All proceeds support the nationally-recognized programs that are “changing lives one recipe at a time” by expanding on the Triad Community Kitchen Culinary School (TCK), led by Chef Jeff Bacon. The program teaches students new skills in order to find employment in the foodservice industry after a job loss. Some students are looking for a fresh start after recovering from drug addiction or spending time in prison. Offering real-life experience to these students, Providence Restaurant and Catering provides opportunities to those who are simply wanting a second chance.
“TCK means a way out. The chefs showed me that I had leadership skills that I didn’t even know were there. It’s not just me having a better job, it’s me crediting TCK for the person I am now.” -Terrell, Line Cook at Willow’s Bistro
If you’re looking for ways to give back to your community during the holidays, Providence Restaurant is coming through in a big way! November 28th is Giving Tuesday–a chance to pay it forward. Providence will host a lunch buffet featuring their amazing cuisine to a limited number of guests from 11:00am to 2:00pm. During the event you can learn more about the students who’ve completed the program as well as ways you can give the gift of a second chance to future students.
From everyone here at Fifth Letter, we wish you all a wonderful, restful, calorie-filled Thanksgiving. We are grateful for each of our clients, collaborators, vendors and friends. Happy Holidays!
